Everything is fine.” But it doesn’t feel fine. Bear Stearns was the first in the financial crisis of 2008, and Silicon Valley Bank was the first in 2023. We don’t know just how far that aspect of the analogy will carry out this year. Bear Stearns stands as an absolute warning that the worst may be yet to come.
