Texas just took a major step toward restoring something America has largely forgotten: money backed by something real.

As of September 1, Texas House Bill 1056 is now in effect, allowing qualifying gold and silver specie to be recognized as legal tender in the state.

That matters because this isn't simply about owning gold.

It's about making gold and silver usable as money again.
