HB 1056 Awaits Governor Abbott’s Signature as Five States Embrace Transactional Gold
Southlake, TX – Economic War Room® with Kevin Freeman celebrates a historic wave of state-level victories as five states—Arkansas, Florida, Missouri, Texas, and Utah—have passed legislation recognizing gold and silver as legal tender under constitutional authority. Inspired by Kevin Freeman’s Pirate Money: Discovering the Founders’ Hidden Plan for Economic Justice, this movement is restoring economic sovereignty nationwide, with Texas House Bill 1056 now awaiting Governor Greg Abbott’s signature by June 22, 2025.
Joined by Kevin Freeman and bill sponsor Representative Doug Bankson (R), Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB 999 into law on May 27, 2025, at a press conference in Apopka. Citing the U.S. Constitution’s Article 1, Section 10, DeSantis said, “Florida is setting a national standard for economic independence,”. Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders also signed her state’s bill, honoring Freeman’s team with the ceremonial signing pen. Missouri and Utah have similarly advanced constitutional currency laws this session. Utah’s HB 306, sponsored by Representative Ken Ivory (R), passed almost unanimously but was vetoed by Governor Spencer Cox, who cited funding concerns. Efforts are underway to address this veto in a special legislative session to restore the bill’s momentum.
Texas’ HB 1056, led by Representative Mark Dorazio (R) and Senator Bryan Hughes (R), passed both the House and Senate with strong support. The bill recognizes gold and silver as legal tender, eliminates sales tax on these metals, and supports a bullion-backed digital currency through the Texas Bullion Depository. “HB 1056 is a critical step toward empowering Texans with financial freedom,” said Freeman. “It protects against inflation and honors the Founders’ vision for Constitutional Currency.”
Looking forward, The Economic War Room | Pirate Money Team is redirecting its efforts to ensure the successful implementation of this legislation across these pioneering states. We are actively evaluating potential Fintech solutions and collaborating closely with state officials to ensure proper execution of these laws. We aim to make gold and silver practical for everyday transactions, delivering true economic justice to Americans. “Our focus now is on turning these legislative victories into real-world solutions,” Freeman said.
